Gina & Kyle got married in Southern Maine on the rocky coastline of Cumberland County. They had reached out to us in late September with their eyes set on November for their Maine elopement. As we got to know them, Gina shared about adventures in Jackson Hole WY, life in a van, and their love for rock climbing. They seemed like such cool people and we formed an instant connection. We were so excited to help them plan their day.
The day of
On the day of the wedding, we met up with them at a little state park. They shared a first look on the black rocks. We explored the park while the sun warmed us through our jackets and the wind-tossed our hair. The cold wind caused us to venture into the shelter of the forest where we found a secluded location for Gina and Kyle to exchange their vows.
Later we met up with their immediate families and had a ceremony by the sea. In the distance, the lobster buoys were floating in the ocean and the sun descended towards the horizon. Officiated by Kyle’s friend and surrounded by their families they exchanged rings. Their unity element was tying a figure-8 knot aka tying two climbing ropes together.
After the ceremony, we captured some family photos. After, we took Gina & Kyle onto the sand beach for some more photos during golden and blue hour. Southern Maine is unique because it is situated on the East Coast but the sun set over the ocean. As the sun set and the temperature dropped, we ran around in the sand to keep warm.
In conclusion
Gina & Kyle are living proof that you can plan an elopement in less than 2 months and have it be an intentional and genuine experience that reflects who you are as a couple. Their day was focused on their commitment to each other and the beginning of their marriage.
