The Perfect Weather
It had rained all night and dense fog had rolled in from off the sea. The fields of wild lupines had just reached their peak, and the pink and purple flowers stood tall and vibrant against their dark green environment. The dense fog contrasted with the colorful wildflowers setting the perfect scene to create whimsical photos in Maine’s wild lupines.
Having fun is Key
The whole Rendezvous team was free this drizzly evening so we drove down the winding, coastal roads to find the perfect field of wild lupines. Vincent and Gretchen put on some cute outfits and Robert got to work behind the camera. The grass was wet with condensation, almost immediately soaking through our shoes as we walked into the field. To capture the essence of whimsy requires the subjects and the photographer to both have fun. We did just that. We ran through the flowers, danced, and laughed as our clothes and shoes got progressively more wet. The lupines bobbed and swayed as we brushed against them as if they were joining in on the fun.
Shooting Elopements
We do our best to document elopements in this same way. We want your elopement to be fun and carefree. So we do our best to curate an environment that encourages whimsy and joy. We understand that the stiff poses you might be used to are awkward. Those same stiff poses are just as awkward for us to photograph. It is our goal to direct candid moments that transfer beautifully into images.
Maine’s Wild Lupines
The lupine season can be short in Maine. In the Acadia region of the coast, we see that the best time for lupines is in the first 10 days of June. Further up the coast the the lupine season is a little later and in Southern Maine, a little earlier.
We love shooting elopements in Maine’s wild lupines. Reach out soon so can start planning your special day in this short season.
